There is a significant need for our services. The homeless and low-income women we serve in Los Angeles need the information, education, and the baby care products we provide through our organization. According to the Weingart Center Association, 30 to 50 percent of the homeless population in Los Angeles consists of women and girls, and 63 percent of homeless mothers have been violently abused by a male partner. This abuse can be debilitating. In fact, 11 percent of women in Los Angeles became homeless as a result of domestic violence or abuse. The Baby Shower Foundation strives to help pregnant homeless women who have been victimized, and other low-income pregnant women, regain the sense of self-worth that poverty, abuse, and their unfortunate life circumstances has taken away from them.
